The men and women who work behind the scenes in the concert touring industry represent a vast resource waiting to be tapped in response to disasters such as the recent earthquake in Haiti.

The crews who organize, manage, and staff the world’s largest concert tours have tremendous logistical experience that can be put to good use in the ongoing relief efforts.  These “roadies” come from diverse backgrounds and bring a wealth of experience and expertise to their work; we are highly adaptable and flexible, and we are used to working under pressure - including in uncomfortable and unpleasant conditions.  Many roadies are ready and willing to volunteer in any capacity when disaster strikes or in ongoing projects to strengthen communities.

SOS is working with our friend Charlie Hernandez, a veteran industry production manager and president of QED Productions, to facilitate the delivery of urgently needed medical equipment and supplies to Haiti in the aftermath of the recent earthquake.  In addition to her years of experience in the concert touring industry, SOS partner Lori Tierney holds a Masters Degree in Non-Profit Management, and has drawn on her extensive contacts in the non-profit sector to help organize this mission.
